How to Fixed"Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" on Android - This article I will discuss how to Overcome "Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" on Android. This often happens when we finish flashing for an upgrade or an android downgrade. Usually without doing wipe data or factory reset, it is done flashing.
Before proceeding to the tutorial here I will explain the cause of the "Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" on Android. This popup notification will continue to appear and interfere so we will have difficulty accessing the menu on the Android smartphone.
The following are some of the causes that cause "Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" on Android :
- Corrupt media file because of an error moving the application system to the user apps
- The process of downgrading firmware without wiping data or factory reset
- Change media applications with third party applications
- Permition settings from inappropriate system applications
- Error editing file build.prop
- Firmware selection error during flashing
Of the several causes above the most dominant is the error in the process of downgrading the firmware without doing data wipe or factory reset. Actually this can be categorized as not a mistake but a choice.
Some Android users choose not to wipe data because of the security of important data and files that they have. And this is almost the majority of android users decide the same thing, namely without wiping the data after the downgrade process is complete.
Here I will share 2 (two) ways to Overcome "Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" on Android. Please refer to the method below.
1. Delete Gallery Application Data (No Root)
The first way is to delete your gallery application data. The question will definitely arise whether this method will delete all important files including photos and videos in our gallery? The answer is of course not. We will delete the data assuming to clear the remaining cache and old dalvilcache and restore the gallery application to the default settings.
To delete gallery application data, please enter via Settings> Apps> search gallery application> then select Clear Data.
Or you can use the Link2SD application and delete the Gallery application data directly through the Link2SD application. After succeeding, please reboot your android and the notification should be "Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" on Android does not appear again.
Here you will experience a little difficulty in accessing the settings menu and Link2SD application because the popup from "Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" will continue to appear. So try speed and patience in accessing it.
2. Replace the Gallery Application and the Permission Setting (Root Needed)
For the second way this requires root access. Because we will replace the corrupted gallery application with a fresh gallery application that is taken from the firmware updater file or the zip-format firmware that is usually installed through TWRP Recovery (not fastboot firmware). This method can be an alternative if you cannot enter the Android system.
First, take the gallery file from your original Android firmware. For example here I use MIUI firmware, this file is usually in / system / priv-app / Here. In this example the gallery folder is named MiuiGallery.
Adjust the location and folder name with the android firmware you are using
Extract the file and retrieve the APK from the Gallery application. Save to your Android internally.
Now reboot your android and enter TWRP Recovery. In the beginning of the TWRP menu, please select mount, then check and select the system. Then return to the homepage or display TWRP again.
The next step select the advanced menu then select file manager. See the picture below for more details.
At this stage, look for where you saved the apk file from MiuiGallery.apk before in your android's internal. Then select Copy. Paste it into the default location of the gallery application. In the previous example, I will paste in / system / priv-app / MiuiGallery / Here.
Click on MiuiGallery.apk which you just pasted into the default system location and select chmod.
Then change the permissions to chmod 0644 and save. Don't forget to swipe right to confirm for verification.
The last step please reboot your android and the popup notification should be from "Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped" on Android it will no longer appear.
