How to Calibrate the Right Android Battery (Rooted or No Rooted) - Every time you upgrade your OS or after buying a new Android battery, it is recommended to calibrate. This is so that the system reads correctly the capacity of the battery itself. I will discuss how to calibrate the correct Android battery in 2 versions where you can apply it as needed on your Android smartphone either rooted or not. Please read this article to completion.
Before heading to the battery calibration method, you can note the characteristics of the battery that need to be calibrated as below :
1. Fast Battery Consumed After Flashing Rom
If you have done flashing, whether it's an upgrade or an ordinary ROM flashing and meet the battery quickly run out and the Android dies itself, this must be calibrated. Because the android system has a file called baterrystats.bin that reads the usage history and determines the estimation of each usage according to the rom. If you change ROM it is possible that the file reads or leaves your old battery usage history.
2. Sudden Battery became Zero Percent
This second problem often occurs, where a battery that was previously still, whether it's 10, 20, 30 percent arrived suddenly to 0 percent drastically. This is because the battery capacity is not read properly. So that causes a missed synchronization between the remaining battery power capacity and the Android system indicator.
3. When Android First Boot Battery Decreases Drastically
What I mean here is when we do a charger in the condition of the dead android then pull it out. Then we turn it on and the battery percentage decreases quickly in seconds. If from 100% reduced by more than 5% just to turn on an Android cellphone, then you must do a calibration.
4. The battery still contains power but the Android restart
This last problem occurs if your battery is still in a state but suddenly - Android restarts, it needs to be calibrated. This is the same as point 2 above, only when it turns on again the battery turns on.
Then How to Calibrate the Right Android Battery ?
The battery calibration step itself is divided into 2, here is the explanation :
1. How to Manually (No Root Needed)
This method can be said to be common but is often forgotten by android users. And this method does not require root access and is also required if your Android is new or only the battery is new.
- Turn on Android, see the remaining battery power
- Spend on internet activities and drain until the battery is completely discharged and the android turns itself off
- If Android has shutdown, please turn it on again. If it can still be lit then use it again until the android dies again
- Repeat the above steps until the battery is completely discharged and cannot be turned on again or 0%
- Then do the charger off to 100% but don't turn on the Android first
- If it's 100%, try removing the charger and leave it for about 30 seconds
- Still in the off condition, plug in the charger again, if the indicator is 100% but after the charger is unplugged and the charger is reset it changes to below 100% then wait for charging up to 100% again
- Repeat until the battery is completely 100% when removed and recharged after 30 seconds
- If you have turned on Android and spent the battery up to zero percent again
- Repeat this step for at least 2x to ensure synchronization of battery capacity and percentage of indicators are appropriate
2. Using Other Application (Root Needed)
For you root users, you can have more things than the manual method above. Because with the help of the application it can reset the batterystats.bin in our android system.
- Download and install Battery Calibration Root in Playstore
- Open the application and root access select allow
- Spend the remaining battery power like the manual method above until the Android turn off
- The charger is turned off positions and leave it to 100%
- Turn on your Android phone without unplug the charger
- Make sure the battery indicator in your status bar shows a number of 100%
- Open the battery calibration application then click calibrate now
- Unplug the charger and use it as usual
- Do this method only once
Additional tips for maintaining optimal battery conditions are not to use an Android phone in a charger. This will damage the synchronization of batterystats.bin. How come ? Because with the use while on the charger then the indicator will be chaotic.
Where when the system reads power usage vs. the remaining battery power becomes unbalanced. The battery goes up and down the percentage due to the condition of the charger.
